Designer Decal Participates in the Annual Fish & Chip Tournament

By: Cindy Stover

The Fish & Chip celebrity weekend is one of the Inland Northwest’s most unique and noteworthy non-profit fundraising events. Originally created by the Michael Roos Foundation in 2009, this one-of-a-kind two-day event has welcomed hundreds of guests from across the country and has had over 65 current NFL players as well as a few NFL legends participate. Our local city, Spokane, plays host to this unique multi-day celebrity event that has benefited over 15 different non-profit and charitable organizations in Idaho and Washington State.

Winning Bass Fishing Team – 2017

During the Fish & Chip celebrity weekend, NFL players are paired with local participants and sponsors to create unforgettable teams that compete in a fun-filled bass fishing tournament and golf tournament. These tournaments are intended for every skill level and serve as the perfect opportunity to spend time getting to know the guys you’ve only seen play football on Sunday.

To cap off the event there is a dinner and auction that helps to raise money for the charities. I personally have had the pleasure of attending this portion of the event with our owner, and have met several of the players. The auction has anything from signed uniforms, signed memorabilia, game tickets, to all-inclusive vacations. This event definitely shows the generosity of the attendees as well as the sponsors.

Over $350,000 has been donated to various Non-profit foundations including: the Boys & Girls Club of Spokane County, Eastern Washington University Athletic Foundation, Washington State Athletic Fund, High School Athletic Foundations, Lewiston Boys & Girls Clubs, the Mark Rypien Foundation, Deone Bucannon Foundation, Brock Coyle Foundation, the Healing Place, Special Olympics of Washington and many others.

In 2016, Seahawks DeShawn Shead and Brock Coyle, along with their foundations, partnered with the Odom Corporation to continue to make the Fish & Chip a premier Northwest charitable fundraising event.

The Fish & Chip Tournament is made possible by generous financial and in-kind support from local businesses and individuals. Designer Decal was approached back in 2009 to sponsor all of the custom boat graphics. The custom boat graphics show recognition to the generous sponsors as well as differentiating the teams. With your help, we can continue to provide much needed financial support to worthy charitable organizations.
