NEW AT DESIGNER DECAL
With a hint of fall in the air, Designer Decal has passed the one year mark with new ownership and new management. We continue to work on improvements to Customer Service and Customer Quality. Monthly, we measure and post a complete set of performance metrics. We pride ourselves in meeting and or exceeding our Customer’s expectations. To do that requires continually measuring what is important and implement corrective actions as necessary to meet our goals. These metrics include Ship On Time, External Quality, Turn Around Time, and Exceeding Customer Expectations. In addition to our performance metrics, this month we implemented our Quality Management System. It is designed to do four things: 1. Insure the quality of our products as they are received and used by our Customers. 2. Reduce our internal rework costs. 3. Increase the velocity of products through our facility by reducing questions. 4. Increase the knowledge of our employees to the requirements of our Customers. One of the key features of Designer’s Quality Management System is to catch any problem or mistake before the product moves to the next process step. Every single person is responsible for their contribution to the quality and the value of our Customer’s products. Each person has to sign their name upon completing their portion of the work order. If there is a mistake or a problem, each person is also responsible for logging the defect and what was done to fix the situation. These individual logs are collected and categorized. The solutions or fixes are also collected and the results of those fixes measured to insure a sustainable change. Our goal is to eliminate the problem or at the very least reduce it dramatically. Last, but by no means least, we are proud to introduce a new person to our sales team. His name is Geoff Whitcomb. He has been involved in the printing business for over 16 years starting at the bottom washing out screen printing screens. He has an AA degree in Graphic Design. Between 2000 and 2010 he worked in both sales and as a manager with a company selling equipment and supplies to the sign industry. With his background in materials and equipment he brings a wealth of knowledge to Designer Decal.
